Meet The Owner
Bill Sanderson
Started his pest control career on the lower mainland in 1998 before moving to the Cowichan Valley in 2000. Working for a national company, Bill realized early on that the customer service approach wasn’t in line with what he believed it should be. This was one of the main reasons Bill started his own company, which gave him the ability to create his own approach to service and customer relationships.
Being raised in a charitable family, it was important for the company to be involved with the community as well as personally. Bill volunteered fifteen years with the Mill Bay Fire Department, coaches hockey and lacrosse, and currently coaches the Cowichan Thunder Junior B Lacrosse Club.
Island Pest Control participates with local community groups such as The Lions Club, Kiwanis and Rotary as well as food banks and smaller community based charities. Bill has two grown boys that have both worked with him as summer students while attending University. He lives with his wife on their hobby farm where he is a beekeeper with approximately 10-15 colonies. Bill also produces maple syrup during the winter months from his stand of Big Leaf Maples.
Over 25 years of working in pest control, Bill says it never gets old. It’s been the perfect amount of exercise, always meeting new people, problem-solving, experiencing all areas of this beautiful island but most of all, sharing the relief customers have when pest issues are resolved.
